Noosa is a fantastic place to spend some time, whether you’re passing through for the day or have come for your two-week vacation. Regardless of why you’re heading to Noosa, most people will be on some sort of budget, so to save yourself a little money on your Noosa vacation, check out the following tips.

Come during the off-season

Coming during the off-season can save you quite a lot of money on your Noosa accommodation, despite the fact the weather will likely be just as good, so keep your eye out for Noosa accommodation specials. Even the winter is pretty decent in Noosa, so if you only have limited funds for your holiday this year and want to head to Noosa, take your trip in the spring or the autumn.

Do your own cooking

Especially if you’re holidaying with your family, food can end up costing you a shocking amount of money if you eat out every time, so save money when in Noosa by doing your own cooking. A lot of accommodation provides the option of a kitchenette, so get one for your gang and make your own meals.

Stay in the dorms

Whether you’re backpacking or just travelling on your own, if you don’t have a lot of money for accommodation, your best bet to save some cash is to check into the dorms at the local Noosa hostels. Being prepared to share a room can save you quite a lot of money and make it easier to stay in Noosa for a little bit longer. Staying in the dorms can also be a good way to meet other travellers, which can be wonderful if you’re travelling alone.

Pick one major activity

There are all sorts of amazing opportunities for things to do in Noosa, but if you’re on a budget you’re going to have to pass on most of the ones that cost money. Pick just one paid activity that you really want to do, as this way you won’t feel so much like you’re missing out. You’ll also be more likely to savour that particular experience more.

Make your own fun

It’s always cheapest to make your own fun, so bring any items that will help you have fun for free. If you’re coming to Noosa with your entire family, don’t forget to pack their surfboards, cricket sets, frisbees and so on, as your kids won’t be so desperate to do additional activities if they’re having a good time already. Most of the best things to do in Noosa are free; so don’t let boredom have any of your crew distracted by expensive activities that you can’t really afford.

Holidaying in Noosa is well worth whatever it ends up costing you, though that doesn’t mean it has to cost you a lot of money. If you’re on a budget and want to visit Noosa, you should definitely still go, because this is one holiday location that is all about the natural beauty, rather than the glitz and glamour.

When it comes to incredible beaches, Queensland is absolutely blessed, as this massive state has hundreds of them. While the Gold Coast beaches get most of the attention, a lot of your best options lie quite a bit further north. The following are the top 10 Queensland beaches, all of which would make the perfect destination for your next holiday.

Whitehaven Beach

Located on the eastern side of Whitsunday Island, this magnificent beach is six kilometres long, and has the most pure, white, and soft sand that you’ll ever see. The best way to see what many claim is Queensland’s best beach is by seaplane.

Airlie Beach

The main departure point for those heading to the Whitsundays, Airlie Beach is absolutely gorgeous. While you won’t find any surf here, you will find, crystal clear, beautiful, warm water.

Kurrimine Beach

Located south of Innisfail, Kurrimine Beach is not well known to tourists, making it a great spot to escape the crowd and do a spot of fishing. A large reef means this isn’t the best place for boating or fishing, but still a fantastic family beach picnic or fishing option.

Maroochydore

This is a good place for surfing, fishing or just sunbathing, and is the picture perfect Queensland beach. For those that live here, they get to wake up every morning looking at paradise.

Noosa Beach

Home of the Noosa Festival of Surfing, this gorgeous beach is just minutes from nearby Noosa accommodation including the Noosa Shores resort. For a spectacular beach, it rarely feels crowded, making it an ideal holiday location, and while the surf is never huge, it occasionally gets decent.

Holloways Beach

With the recent establishment of a resort, this beach is in the process of transitioning from a relatively unknown Cairns residential beach, to a high-end holiday destination, and is yet another beautiful north Queensland beach.

Burleigh Heads

This is the southernmost beach in Queensland and regarded by some to be the best surfing beach in the State. This is one of the easiest Queensland beaches to get to, and has a wide variety of accommodation available nearby, making it an extremely popular option for a surfing trip.

Coolangatta Beach

Located 30 minutes drive south of Surfer’s Paradise, Coolangatta is a beautiful little beach town with a stunning beach. Fishing off the rocks at either end of the beach can hook you some decent-sized fish, and with the surf being moderate at most, this is the ideal spot for a family holiday.

Four-Mile Beach

The highlight of Port Douglas, this is one of those beaches where you can go for a decent walk, and the stunning scenery will have you in a relaxed state of mind. With numerous hotels and holiday resorts nearby, it’s a good thing this beach is so long, because it can get quite busy.

Mission Beach

Another of north Queensland’s beautiful beaches, this 14-kilometre long, banana-shaped beauty is set among word heritage listed tropical rainforest. Just off the beach lies the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, and Dunk Island Resort.

Finding the perfect place to go for your honeymoon can be harder than you’d think, as all of the obvious places will be swarming with people or out of your price range. If you want a place that’s friendly, beautiful and has plenty to see and do, look no further than Noosa. You’re sure to find everything on your checklist and more, and it’ll likely cost you far less than you’d expect. The following are just some of the reasons why Noosa makes the perfect honeymoon destination.

Laid back

Noosa provides a beautiful holiday spot without all of the glitz and glamour; it has a more low-key and relaxing vibe than places like the Gold Coast. You’ll be able to relax and unwind following all the stress of the wedding, and just enjoy the peace and quiet of being together.

Gorgeous

Noosa is a place of quite stunning natural beauty, so you’ll have no trouble finding those little spots of paradise to relax with your new spouse. One of the best places in Queensland to watch the sun rise, and blessed with beautiful sandy beaches for those romantic walks, Noosa is even surrounded by impressive national parks, providing seemingly endless options of romantic places to explore.

Luxurious

While you hear more about the high-end hotels of the Gold Coast, Noosa accommodation can well and truly compete when it comes to luxury and comfort, with some Noosaville resorts proving to be absolutely world-class accommodation options. You’ll have your every want or need covered here, so you and you partner can concentrate on just enjoying being together.

Active

It’s always nice to have something to do on holidays, because even if you’re on your honeymoon, you’ll want to leave the bedroom once in a while. Noosa has a wide variety of ways to get active, including swimming, kayaking, hiking, cycling, fishing, golf, tennis, etc.

Tasty

Even though Noosa isn’t a huge place, it does well to provide a decent variety of delicious food options, so you and your spouse will have plenty to try out while you’re here. Some of the resorts provide food for you, though if you’re opting to do your own cooking, it’s well worth your while doing the short drive to Eumundi for their Wednesday or Saturday markets.

Affordable

Despite having everything that most other popular honeymoon destinations have, Noosa has managed to somehow stay relatively unknown, and therefore is quite a bit cheaper than places like the Gold Coast or the Whitsunday’s. This may mean that you can have your honeymoon go for a little while longer.

Close to the action

If you’re going to be on your honeymoon for a week or more, you might want to check out some big city action, such as hitting a casino, the orchestra, or even doing some shopping. From Noosa it’s easy to head down to Brisbane for the day if you’re looking to do a side trip, and you’re a good chance of being able to catch something big going on there no matter when you visit.

Australia is home to some of the world’s most talented surfers, so when there are competitions down here, they are generally something to see. Most parts of the country host surfing competitions, and if you’ve never seen a really talented surfer, you should go and see what these people can do. The following are some of the best surfing competitions taking place each year in Australia.

Quicksilver and Roxy Pro

From February 25 until March 7, this classic Australian surfing event takes place at the famous break of Snapper Rocks. This prestigious event has all the top surfers here for 12 days of competition, at what is one of the most consistently decent surfing spots in the world.

Wandiyali Indigenous Classic

One of the most colourful and vibrant surfing competitions running, this one is as much a cultural celebration as a surfing event — though that doesn’t mean there’s not amazing surfing. Always featuring some incredibly talented youth, this is certainly one of the most friendly and laid-back surfing competitions in the country. It takes place in Merewether, NSW.

Rip Curl West Coast Classic

This event is always a good bet for largest wave surfing competition in Australia, as the west coast of Tasmania can get absolutely massive sets. This awesome event always attracts the best surfers, and you couldn’t find a more beautiful spot. If you have wanted to hit up a big surfing meet this year and haven’t been to Tassie, there’s no better excuse than the Rip Curl Classic.

Noosa Festival of Surfing

The Noosa Festival of Surfing started out as a longboard event, but has become an all-round surfing classic that draws thousands of visitors each year to Noosa. Accommodation can fill up quickly, so secure your accommodation in Noosa as early as possible for this six-day extravaganza, which features days of surfing and nights of partying.

Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic

Held at one of Sydney’s most beautiful beaches in Dee Why, this women’s surfing event is one of the best of the year and always has the top women in the world competing. With $110,000 in prize money, you know the best will be there, and women’s surfing is easily as impressive and spectacular as the men’s variety. You’ll almost always be treated to some young people doing some incredibly impressive things, and you’re sure to leave inspired to be a bit more creative on your own board.

King of the Bra

This small surfing competition takes place at Sydney’s Maroubra Beach, with the aim being to find “the best of the best Maroubra open-age surfer”. The winner claims the $1,000 prize as well as bragging rights around the beach, though a big part of this competition is about spreading community spirit. Apart from talented surfing, you will also find music, dancing and touch football going on, making this one of the more entertaining surfing competitions around. The event slogan sums up the vibe of the event: “Keep it Local! Keep it Real! Do us Proud… Yeah the Bra!!!!!” It’s well worth watching the crowning of the King of the Bra.

Australians love their jazz, and almost every major centre in the country has some sort of jazz festival or another. Having lots of festivals has been great for the jazz music scene in Australia, and provides fantastic opportunities for up and coming musicians to get a gig, as well as a way to showcase some of the superstars of jazz to the general public. There are dozens of jazz festivals across Australia, with the following just a few of the more lively variety.

Melbourne International Jazz Festival

First held in 1998, the Melbourne International Jazz festival is guaranteed to put on a lively show, as this amazing event showcases dozens of acts from Australia and around the world. This 10-day festival is held at various locations across the city, providing a good chance to not only hear great live jazz, but also to check out some of Melbourne’s best venues for live music.

Noosa Jazz Festival

The sleepy town of Noosa comes alive in a big way in September, with the onset of the Noosa Jazz Festival. For just over 20 years this fantastic event has had the whole town jumping in the spring, with a line up that always includes a few big international stars. There are also some fantastic holiday houses in Noosa for rent, as well as other options for short-term accommodation in Noosa, so you can easily turn your jazz visit into a full-fledged holiday.

Adelaide East End International Jazz Festival

This up-and-coming, sophisticated city can definitely put on a good festival, and there’s no better place to enjoy some jazz than the beautiful parks and gardens of Adelaide. This festival usually takes place in October and always provides a big surprise or breakthrough performance.

Manly Jazz Festival

There has always been a good jazz scene in Sydney, and that goes for both sides of the bridge, with Manly putting on a very respectable jazz festival each year in the spring. Everything is better by the beach and jazz music is no different; this festival is a perfect combination of lively music and stunning scenery.

Clarence Street Jazz Festival

Hobart puts on a surprisingly lively jazz festival considering the small size of the city, with six days of jazz making fantastic use of Hobart’s beautiful downtown, parkland and waterfront areas. The ‘Jazz Lounge’, set in a 200-year-old barn, is always one of the most popular venues, as its intimacy allows you to get up close to the action.

Brisbane Jazz Festival

You can be bopping, jumping and jiving for 14 straight days when the Brisbane Jazz Festival kicks into gear in late October. Just as the weather is getting nice, there’s nothing better than starting to get your groove on a little, so head to Brisbane for some of the country’s best live jazz.

Broadbeach Jazz Festival

Another perfect combination of great live music and stunning scenery, it’s hard to imagine a better setting for a jazz festival than the Gold Coast, and it’s well set up with hotels and accommodation for those visiting from out of town.

There is no harder time in a person’s life than right after they lose someone that they love. There is nothing anyone can say or do to make your loved one come back, though one of the best things you can do for yourself is to get away for a bit and treat yourself to a holiday. Once the funeral is over and all the necessary arrangements for everything else are taken care of, it’ll be good for you to have a break and be able to just spend some time on your own. The following are some of the ways that going on a holiday can help you deal with loss.

A Change Of Scenery

No doubt every little thing will be reminding you of your lost loved one, so the best thing you can do is leave it all behind for a little while and go somewhere that is totally different. Somewhere with lots of natural beauty is a good idea and sometimes you can even get good deals on monthly accommodation. Noosa and other places on the Sunshine Coast are the perfect place to have everything you need while being surrounded by a fantastic natural setting, and whether you go to Sunshine Beach, Little Cove or Noosa, accommodation here comes in all types so you are sure to find the perfect place to relax and get your head together.

Be Anonymous

It is great to have lots of people around that care about you, though it can get a little overwhelming to be constantly bumping into people who are offering their condolences. Getting away will mean you can just deal with your own grief rather than have to help deal with everyone else’s, so you will finally have the time and space to get to a good place in your own head. Whether you are walking through a National Park or just staring at the ocean, you’ll feel way more relaxed knowing that people here don’t look at you as the person who just lost a loved one.

Get Active

Locking yourself inside your home is not a healthy way to deal with loss; you need to be making sure that you are getting exercise and stimulation so that you don’t fall into depression. Going on a holiday will provide you with lots of easy ways to be getting out on walks or for morning swims and getting some of that stress and grief out of your body. As hard as it is to think about, you need to continue on with your life, so making sure you don’t just fade away is obviously very important. Just take it gently.

Time To Talk

Having some time to yourself will be a huge relief, though you may want to have a close friend join you on your restorative journey once you’ve had some time on your own. This will give you a good opportunity to talk about how you feel and to feel less like you are floating and disconnected. So consider having the second part of your holiday with a friend and start slowly transitioning into a new phase of your life.

Some people feel like they need to have a travel partner in order to have a great holiday, though there is a lot to be said for solo travel, especially if you are heading to the Sunshine Coast. There is nothing like being able to be totally selfish with your travel plans and to wake up in the morning knowing that you can do whatever you feel like. So if you have been feeling like you need some time away from everyone and everything, a solo holiday to Sunshine Beach or Noosa might be just what the doctor ordered. The following are some great ideas if you want to have a great holiday all by yourself on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Get Your Own Place

One of the best ideas for a great trip away on your own to the Sunshine Coast is to stay somewhere that is awesome and just for you. It will obviously cost you a little bit more to do this, though it will be worth it to not have to deal with anyone else and to be able to just concentrate on totally relaxing in your own private accommodation. Noosa has a great array of private accommodation so for a solo trip to somewhere fantastic, you might want to get yourself a sweet place on the Sunshine Coast. As well, there are some great 1 bedroom properties to rent from something very indulgent right on the beach all the way to something more modest in size and price.

Get Out And About

The best thing about solo travel is meeting loads of new friends, so make sure that you are out and about and meeting people on your solo trip. You never know who you might meet if you give yourself a chance, so don’t hide away in your hotel room and get out to the Eumundi Markets or to that bonfire on the beach and make a few new friends these holidays. People on the Sunshine Coast are extremely friendly, so make the most of travelling solo and be sure to introduce yourself.

Go On A Tour

A great way to see the sights on the Sunshine Coast when travelling on your own is to jump on a tour. Regardless of where you are staying, you can usually get picked up from pretty much any Noosa accommodation or most places in Sunshine Beach or Noosa Sound and be out on a great local tour and seeing everything there is to see. So check out the Dolphin Eco tours or get on a tour of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, and see the Sunshine Coast in style on your own these holidays.

Treat Yourself

It’s great that you are going on holiday by yourself, after all you don’t need other people to have a good time, though you should go all out and make this trip an excuse to treat yourself. There are heaps of opportunities on the Sunshine Coast to try something new and awesome, whether you like food, need a massage or want to go skydiving, make a point of treating yourself and you’ll be sure to come back from this trip feeling better about your life and yourself.

Travelling solo is something everyone should do at least a couple of times in their life, so if you are feeling overwhelmed by everyone and everything, head to the Sunshine Coast and do it on your own terms.

Going on holidays with your partner is more than likely going to be the stand out highlight of your year, though only if you actually get to spend a bit of time together. There is nothing worse than finally getting away together and then not being able to spend any quality time alone together, so make sure that doesn’t happen to you and your partner this year. Next time you go on holiday with your special someone, take a few steps to make sure you get some alone time, it’ll be sure to make your holiday more memorable. The following are some great ways to get more of that all-important private time together.

Splurge On Accommodation

Saving money on accommodation by staying in the dorms at the backpacker hostel is a sure way to kill any romance on your trip and will guarantee that you don’t get to spend much time alone with your partner. No matter whether you are staying in Hobart, Cairns or Noosa, accommodation that is just for the two of you is the best bet, and even though it’ll cost a bit more, it will ensure you get a bit more privacy.

Don’t Go With Friends

While holidaying with friends can be great, it is not the best idea if you want to be able to have a bit of private time with your loved one. There is no better way to kill a relationship than by not having enough quality time alone together to relax, so next holidays leave your mates behind and go somewhere just with your partner. You will be really glad that you did!

Avoid Tourist Hotspots

There is nothing worse than being in a beautiful spot that is absolutely swarming with people. So if you want to be able to have a bit of space to yourselves to spread out on the beach or to not feel like you are on a conveyer belt as you hike the trails, avoid popular tourist areas full of high-rise buildings shadowing the beach and head to holiday in places that are more quality than quantity.

Take Your Holidays Off Season

If you want to be able to go to those iconic spots but want to be there without the crowds, a great move is to travel in the off season. You can still get some gorgeous weather in the spring and autumn so for the sake of a bit of extra privacy, it is worth the lower season tariffs when the crowds aren’t too large and the prices much smaller. Often you may not have to book at restaurants either. A lot of places will have really good deals off season on accommodation, Noosa, Sunshine Beach and Noosaville being just some of the places where you can save as much as 50% by going on holidays during the off season.

Plan For Privacy

You can pretty much always get a bit of privacy if you think about how you are going to do it ahead of time. There is nothing more romantic than knowing that your partner has gone to some trouble to ensure you have some alone time, so make a point of avoiding that big music festival and going on holiday the week before instead.

If you are looking to make your great escape to the bright blue waters and the white sandy beaches of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, make sure you are aware of all of the great options the area has to offer. Whether you want to camp under the stars, or stay in a luxury beachside apartment, you will be able to build your dream getaway. If you are interested in fun coastal activities such as swimming and surfing, this area won’t disappoint you. Or maybe you are more into what the hinterland has to offer with it’s breathtaking panoramic views, bushwalking and nostalgic rural charm. Here are a few of the best spots to check out when you are visiting the Sunshine Coast – you won’t want to miss anything!

Noosa Heads

Located at the most northern end of the Sunshine Coast, Noosa heads is a vibrant and popular center, providing fantastic beaches, lovely bushwalking, fabulous shopping and superb Noosa accommodation. Immerse yourself in the rare natural beauty of the Noosa region and see why UNESCO recognized this area as an official Biosphere Reserve, as you enjoy walking through Noosa National Park and along the coast. There is an impressive variety of accommodation in Noosa and you won’t be disappointed; with everything from quaint B&Bs and Eco-lodges to luxury beachside apartments and self-contained condo units, there is something for everyone.

Peregian Beach

Located in the center of the string of beaches that make up the Sunshine Coast, Peregian Beach is an oasis of fantastic beaches and familiar wallum heathland. Come here in the spring to enjoy a spectacular show of colour and beauty as the wildflowers begin to bloom. If you are more into the social scene, take in a Peregian Beach Originals concert, which is a showcase of all the greatest original talent the region has to offer. Take a load off and enjoy the shade in the friendly Peregian town center where you can enjoy the diverse shops, cafes and restaurants. Here you will find a great swimming beach that is patrolled year-round.

Eumundi

Every Saturday and Wednesday, rain or shine, this small, seemingly quiet little town explodes with life. The Eumundi Market is hands-down the best market in the area, bringing in enough visitors to quadruple the population of the town. Here you will find a nice blend of old and new with the main street being lined with old historical buildings, modern galleries, boutique shops and history museums. This tiny town has it all.

Maleny

If you are lucky enough to be taking the hinterland coastal drive up through the Glass House Mountains, be sure to take a detour through the Blackall Range scenic drive. This winding road takes you through rich, subtropical country and up into the hills where the views of coast are unrivalled. Visit the quaint town of Maleny, where the alternative vibe and cafes filled with delicious local and organic produce is sure to make you want to stay the night. Maybe stop for a few days and take on the 58 kilometer hike through the Range, bringing you to all the most gorgeous and picturesque spots and tantalizing you with some of the best views as you come through the Maleny Forest Reserve.
