Where You Should Stay During the Noosa Triathlon
"If you plan on taking part in the Noosa Triathlon this year and are not a Noosa resident, book your accommodation as soon as you possibly can. While you do have a large amount of fantastic accommodation options in Noosa and the surrounding area, they will fill up very quickly as the day of the race approaches, so don’t leave yourself without that ultimate pad to base yourself. When deciding on a place to stay, keep in mind that there are awesome options throughout the entire Sunshine Coast area, so it will all depend on how close you want to stay to the race. The following are all excellent places to stay during the Noosa Triathlon. In Noosa If you are coming to compete, you won’t want to expend any unnecessary energy getting to Noosa on the day of the event, so whether you stay at a resort, hostel or Noosa holiday apartments, get something relatively close to where the race will start. If you can afford to, coming early is a smart move to familiarise yourself with the course, and it also offers you a spectacular place to do your last minute light training. Once the triathlon is over, you will also not want to have far to go to get back to where you are staying, so keep this in mind when making your plans and booking your accommodation in Noosa. In Eumundi This gorgeous little town is only a 30-minute drive from Noosa, though you will feel another world away. Famous throughout the region for its bustling Wednesday and Saturday markets, Eumundi is the perfect place to stay away from the crowds but still be very close to all the hype and fun of the triathlon. In Coolum Barely a 20-minute drive south from Noosa is another glorious little place. Coolum is the perfect spot to base yourself if you want to be outside of Noosa during the event without getting too far away. Most of the major triathlon related partying will be happening in Noosa, so by staying in Coolum you can party in Noosa as late into the night as you want, then jump in a cab for an easy 20-minute fare home. In Maroochydore If you want to stay in a slightly larger centre and don’t mind doing the breathtaking 40-minute drive up to Noosa for the triathlon, Maroochydore makes for a pretty appealing place to set up base. Chances are good that you’ll see a bit of Noosa during the triathlon, so by staying in Maroochydore you will have a second beautiful destination to explore. In a tent If you are keen to compete in the race but don’t have a budget for holiday accommodation, bring your tent and camp, as there are lots of campgrounds with varying levels of facilities located in and around Noosa. You will generally save money on camping fees by paying by the week, and make sure any bush camping you do is legal, as the fines can be quite large. Book a site as early as you can, because you won’t be the only person coming for the triathlon who will want to stay in campgrounds while they are here."
